Year 5 & 6 2019 - 2020
Happy new term!
I can't believe we are in a new decade! For some of our class, the countdown to secondary school really has started as this term our year 6's will start to prepare for their transition to high school. For the rest, you are on your journey to step into year 6 in two terms time!. We have lots of exciting and interesting work planned over the course of the term on the theme of 'Amazonian Antics'. Please see our term's class curriculum map.
Our PE days continue to be Thursday with the sports coaches, and on Friday with Mr Trude. Please keep an eye on the weather as we may to go outside for some sessions as we can- weather pending. Children will need to have trainers in school and a pair of jogging trousers for when the weather is cooler.
Spellings and tables will come home on Thursdays. The children will be tested in school on Mondays on their tables and spellings. The children will also bring a piece of homework home on Thursdays, to be handed in on a Monday. Please encourage your child to read at home too, as part of their home learning as well as for sheer enjoyment. It is also really important to be confident in telling the time, both digital and analogue; please encourge your children to practise this at home too. Yr 6 children will also have a maths SAT book to bring home for their homework.
Please do come into see me if you wish to discuss anything that arrises through the course of this half term. I hope the children havel all come back into school keen and ready to learn. I am really looking forward to taking them on their journey as they progress through the upper part of key stage 2, getting them all ready for that inevitable move to high school in the not so distant future.
